A funeral will be held on May 6 for Hong Kong volunteer Wong Fuk-wing, who was killed trying to save victims of the earthquake trapped in the rubble of an orphanage. Members of the public who wish to pay their respects to Wong, 46, can do so between 4pm and 7pm at the Universal Funeral Parlour in Cheong Hang Road, Hung Hom.

Wong's family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, mourners make a donation towards relief and reconstruction work in Yushu county or to a newly set up charity fund in Wong's name run by the Hong Kong Red Cross. Donations to the fund will be spent through the Red Cross Society of China on orphans, disadvantaged and sick children, and bone marrow banks.

The family will donate any condolence money it receives to the fund, as well as the HK$28,000 it would have cost them to inter Wong's remains had the fee not been waived.
