Casino city ready to host more events
Macau's blistering pace of new hotel openings has slowed, with the veil waiting to be lifted on the 213-room Mandarin Oriental Macau in the middle of the year. Also waiting in the wings is an expanded Wynn Macau - the Encore, with 400 suites and four villas.
The new 791-room Grand Hyatt Macau boasts splendid Mice facilities including the 1,925-square-metre Grand Ballroom with its eight-metre-high ceiling. The space caters for up to 2,000 seated, theatre-style and 1,440 at a banquet.
Mice business at the Grand Hyatt has picked up since its grand opening last year.
'Within four months our hotel had already hosted several Mice events from nearby Asian cities,' a hotel spokesman says. 'Our extensive Mice facilities enable us to host different themed events in different capacities. For instance, the Salao do Teatro - 780 square metres - features an open show-kitchen capable of accommodating up to 20 chefs at a time, with video cameras beaming live culinary action to a pair of projectors.'
