Elaine Yauin Beijing
The Education Bureau said yesterday 23 direct subsidy scheme schools had applied to increase tuition fees for the 2010-11 academic year, while 14 schools would freeze their fees. Yesterday was the last day for the schools to submit applications for fee adjustments. A bureau spokeswoman said they would assess the applications and announce the results in August. Under the law, a direct subsidy scheme school has to submit a budget and reasons for a fee increase.
