For my wedding, I'd like to wear a nice silver flower holder pin thing for my boutonniere. I tried Tiffany and some others but can't seem to find one. What do you recommend?

Mr Dapper: I recommend that you save the money for your new life with your new wife and stick with the basic pins most people use, or whatever the florist provides. Anyway, most good suit makers include a boutonniere loop behind the lapel (or your tailor could add one), so you are creating more fuss to add to a rather fussy ceremony. I'm sure your fianc?e would prefer your help on other wedding details.

Mr Dandy: If you simply must have one, though, go straight to Nugget (Prince's Building, Central, tel: 2523 5281), which has a British-made, sterling-silver boutonniere vase pin for only HK$840. Online, there are more choices for this obscure, antiquated accoutrement, mostly through estate jewellers and antiques dealers such as Rubylane.com; search for the ornate 'sterling silver tussie mussie vintage pin flower holder' (US$125). We have also seen cheap 'silvertone' pieces on eBay.com (US$3.20) and Amazon.com sells lapel pin vases by Darice (US$2.16). Done? Now go and help your fiancee with something people will actually notice.

I saw this awesome pair of Marc Jacobs shoes at Asos.com but was wondering if Marc Jacobs in Hong Kong stocks them? (I'm e-mailing you from England, otherwise I'd trot along and have a look myself). I want to bring a little more joy into the world by wearing something as euphoria-inducing as this beautiful shade of yellow.

Mr Dapper: We'll forgo all queries about why you're asking us from Britain in favour of: yellow trainers? Seriously? OK, well then what's wrong with the yellow leather trainers (which sound like the ones you covet) we saw at Marc by Marc Jacobs (HK$4,090; The Landmark, Central, tel: 2524 6691)? Well, I'll tell you; they remind us of the old-school canvas Converse Chuck Taylors, which are sold in more colours than you can name, including your euphoric banana yellow (HK$299; Converse Shop, Times Square, Causeway Bay, tel: 2506 1886).

Mr Dandy: Da Hood (89 Fa Yuen Street, Mong Kok, tel: 2787 2226) also carries them and you might find joy in the yellow and grey Nike Air Max (HK$749) and Reebok's yellow and green The Pump (HK$899). We also suspect you'd be rather pleased with Acupuncture's ochre yellow trainers in perforated suede (HK$599; Langham Place, Mong Kok, tel: 3514 4198). But what's the point? Click 'buy' on the ones you saw and be done with it.
