Treat your mum on Mother's Day

Next Sunday is Mother's Day, a day to celebrate mothers and focus on the positive contribution they make to society. And Young Post wants to help you celebrate your own mum.

Enter our Mother's Day competition, and you could win a fabulous prize: we have theme-park tickets, dinners for four and spa vouchers up for grabs.

All you have to do is write a short fictional story on the theme 'Mommy Magic'. You can take the theme literally - write about a mother with magical powers, for example - or think outside the box.

Entries will be judged in two age categories - 11 and under, and 12-18. Younger readers have a word limit of 300 words, while older readers can write up to 600 words.

The first prize in each category is four tickets to Hong Kong Disneyland, so you can treat your mum and family to a magical day out. The second prize is dinner for four at Super Star restaurant. And the third prize is a Kerstin Florian Aromatic Salt Scrub for your mum at the Intercontinental Hotel spa.

Submit your entries online at Click on the 'Mother's Day short story competition' banner and enter your work as a comment. Don't forget to include your full name, age, school and phone number - don't worry, your phone number won't be published.

First-prize-winning stories will be published in next week's SYP, and all six prize-winning entries will appear on the Young Post main website. Other entries will appear on the YP forum.

Entries close at noon on Thursday.
