Cracking the code Concord

Concord extends its popular C1 collection this year with three new models designed to cater to a wide variety of tastes.

'People have been happy with our C1 extensions in the past,' says Marc Michel-Amadry, president and creative director of Concord.

The highlight of the novelties this year is the C1 Code, which features an algebraic formula scribbled across the glass above the dial. Developed by a Cambridge University math professor, the formula describes the interaction between the watch's parts. 'It's like when a person gets a tattoo,' Michel-Amadry says. 'They choose something that represents their identity. In the same way, this code is essentially the brand's DNA tattooed across the glass.'

The dial features a small seconds disc at nine o'clock, the minute and hour chronograph counters at 12 o'clock and six o'clock respectively, and a date window at three o'clock.

The surface of the dial is made with black carbon fibre, allowing the grey printed formula to stand out on the sapphire glass. The automatic chronograph movement is housed within a black PVD-treated stainless steel 44mm case with a black rubber-protected bezel, paired with a black vulcanised rubber strap.

The C1 Vintage and C1 MecaTech explore opposite themes in their design. The materials chosen for the C1 Vintage capture the wearing effects of time, while the C1 MecaTech is designed to look modern.
