Boucheron had a strong showing at the BaselWorld fair this year with a dazzling array of jewelled creations, and a novelty in the Reflet XL collection which showcased the brand's expertise in wood marquetry.
The Reflet XL Ch?teau Latour Vintage 2005 is Boucheron's latest wood model and is 'an exceptional piece', according to Boucheron president Jean-Christophe Bedos. He says that even after the first few days of the BaselWorld fair, 'there has already been a high level of interest in the watch'.
The brand has worked with precious woods since the 1920s, with last year's Cruise Reflet XL model featuring wood obtained from boat decks.
For the Latour dial, Boucheron's workshops sourced the two-century-old oak barrels used to age the Ch?teau Latour Grand Mill?sime 2005.
During the ageing process, the wood absorbs a small amount of the wine and the resulting tinted wood sections are used to create each of the 100 limited edition Ch?teau Latour Vintage 2005 dials in Boucheron's Reflet XL collection.
'Given the passion men have for uniqueness and the fact that the Chinese are increasingly knowledgeable about wine, it's not surprising that this watch has been well received,' Bedos says.
