1. Smiling Faces - Incognito, from the album Positivity
Jazzy, soulful and uplifting. I listen to this to start off my day. It never fails to put me in a great mood.
2. Afternoon - Pat Metheny Group, from the album Speaking of Now
This is a song that drew me in without my quite knowing why. Although I do not understand the lyrics - it's in some sort of African language - I find myself listening to it again and again.
3. Ponta De Areia - Esperanza Spalding, from the album Esperanza
I've always loved Brazilian songs, but this is certainly in the top three of my favorites - it sounds almost like a nursery rhyme but is so beautifully arranged.
4. Some Kind of Wonderful - Joss Stone, from the album The Soul Sessions
A great modern treatment of a classic soul tune. This is the song I put on when it's time to clean the house - I play it full blast and sing along at the top of my lungs - what an energiser!
5. Moon Blue - Stevie Wonder, from the album A Time to Love
Ginger Kwan and I are teaming up and doing a Stevie Wonder tribute show at the Melting Pot on May 15, and this is one of the songs that I will be singing. From the first time I heard it, I couldn't get it out of my head - I just have to sing it.
