Despite not being at his best during the final round, Joe Pethes (pictured) held on to reclaim the MacGregor Hong Kong Seniors' Amateur Close Championship title at Fanling yesterday. The 64-year-old, who won the event in 2007 and 2008, closed with a 79 to finish the three-round tournament on a score of 228. Defending champion Matajiro Nagatomi was sixth after slumping to an 83. 'That's the best I've ever played in a competition,' said Canadian-born Pethes of his three-under-par effort.
