So, on the hottest day of this week, green group Footprint sent out press releases calling on people to turn off their air cons on June 1 as no-air-con day. They really got our vote in the office when everyone was coming in sweating like pigs. Yeah, let's use less air con! We just happen to have a hot, humid climate and it's muggy as hell in this fume-choked city.
The NGO has got hundreds of schools to join its campaign, so kiddies have no choice but to study in intense heat to satisfy its agenda. You know what? I love polar bears but I really don't think anyone can prove my using excess air con is causing them to lose their icy habitats.
Those NGOs really get my goat. They all pick worthy causes that you can't argue against, and make themselves society's spokesmen, though no one elected them. The trouble is, there are so many worthy causes, and their advocates make you feel guilty for not joining them.
Come Tuesday, I am cranking up my air con - at home and in the office.
