Actor yearns for simpler days of modelling underwear

Taiwanese actor Ethan Ruan Jing-tian says he wouldn't mind showing off his six-pack in underwear campaigns again. He made the comments while launching Calvin Klein's X underwear collection at a party at the W hotel last Thursday night.

Appreciating four lingerie-clad models showcasing the intimate fashion, Ruan said he'd been there, done that - he modelled for underwear ads when he entered the business five years ago.

'I was once young and innocent,' said the 27-year-old star of blockbuster gangster film Monga. 'Now my manager won't let me do these revealing photo shoots, plus I'm too slim now. It won't look good.'

The star said he lost a kilo or two recently because he was troubled by rumours accusing him of being a womaniser.

'I will face these accusations if they really have proof. It's very bad for the girls who appeared in those false reports as well.'

Ruan recently moved house but denied that was to change his fortune.

'If I believed in fung shui, I wouldn't be in the business because many masters told me I wouldn't thrive in this career. But doing what I like is the most important thing.'

The busy Ruan didn't stay at the party long. He was on a late-night flight back to Taipei after just eight hours in Hong Kong.
