Ketamine courier held at Lo Wu

Police acting on a tip-off yesterday arrested a jobless man at Lo Wu MTR station for trafficking 3kg of ketamine with a street value of HK$360,000, which they found in bags strapped to his waist and legs. They said he was paid HK$6,000 to smuggle the drugs, which were destined for entertainment venues in West Kowloon and the northern New Territories.

Rise for neighbourhood groups

The Home Affairs Bureau has proposed raising from HK$1,000 to HK$1,500 the quarterly financial assistance it offers the mutual aid committees of residential buildings. The government has encouraged the formation of such committees to improve residents' security and living environment.

Pox alert for cruise passengers

Three crew of the cruise ship SuperStar Aquarius have caught chickenpox since May 21. Pregnant women and people with weak immune systems should not board it for the next month, health staff say.
