Cataract patients diverted

About 7,100 cataract patients have been treated in the private sector with government aid since 2008, the Food and Health Bureau said. It will spend HK$55 million in the next two years aiding 8,000 operations. Waiting time for surgery in public hospitals in 2007 was 35.5 months, but this was cut to 31 months by December last year.
