Civil servants will get a pay rise after a review reflecting the extent of salary increases in the private sector. Civil servants in the directorate and upper salary band will get a pay increase of 1.6 per cent, while those in the middle and lower salary bands will get a 0.56 per cent rise. The pay adjustments will be backdated to April 1. A government spokesman said the adjustments were believed to be 'fair and reasonable'. The rises will be tabled for Legco approval on July 2.
