Ten face charges over raid on triad

Ten of the 91 people arrested in Tai Po this week over illegal activities allegedly run by the Sun Yee On triad appeared in Fanling Court yesterday. Eight men and two women, aged between 29 and 58, faced 39 charges. They are accused of operating or managing gambling establishments, claiming to be a member of a triad society and bookmaking between April 6 and June 22. They did not enter pleas. Principal Magistrate Josiah Lam Wai-kuen adjourned the case until July 20.
