A debt-ridden man confessed yesterday to cultivating 339 cannabis plants, worth more than HK$223,000, in two flats. Poon Wun-kwong, 51, pleaded guilty in the District Court to cultivating the plants in the bedroom at his Tuen Mun village house and a rented flat in Yuen Long. Poon, who had incurred a HK$500,000 debt, had been growing cannabis from seeds he ordered on the internet and had not sold any plants before his arrest, the court heard. He was remanded in custody pending sentencing today.
