Canto-pop singers use their heads to promote football talent show

Canto-pop singers Alan Tam Wing-lun (right) and his godson Kelvin Kwan Chor-yiu showed wannabe David Beckhams how to head a football in a Wednesday afternoon practice in Tsim Sha Tsui with Birmingham City academy coach Julian Leon Broomes (left).

The trio were taking a break from their promotion of RTHK's football talent show A Kick to Success, which will air from August 4 on ATV Home. It will follow the fortunes of 15 local 16- to 29-year-olds in their quest for a professional career. The show's three winners will get the chance to train with Birmingham City. Tam also discussed the music business with Kwan, who was involved in a drugs-related scandal in March last year.

'Actions speak louder than words,' the 59-year-old crooner said. 'You have to make good music and performances to win your fans back.'

Kwan nodded in agreement like a bobble-head doll. If he keeps nodding like that he might make a comeback - or, if Broomes is still watching, the Birmingham back four.
