Toni Braxton, the six-time Grammy award winner, has released her sixth studio album, Pulse.

After a five-year break, she is stronger than ever and back with her debut for Atlantic Records, her new recording label.

This album features 11 songs recorded over two years. It contains up-tempo tracks, softer songs and a number of dance tunes. They are mainly about love, including different reactions to love, such as making love work even when everyone else is shaking their heads.

Pulse is about that very thing - you can sense Braxton's belief in her determination to revive love. It starts on a soft note and gradually uses bass, piano and vocals to build the momentum.

Wardrobe and Yesterday deal with moving on after failing in love and both are catchy tunes. The former involves drum beats throughout, and the latter is a more solemn version with more variety of beats.

The fear of being forgotten and longing for more attention are revealed in Woman and Why Won't You Love Me - perfect displays of Braxton's sensitivity. They spell out how much she desires and longs for the love that she thinks she deserves. She puts everything into each note and you can almost feel the tears rolling down her cheeks.

This album shows how a mature, contemporary and strong woman views love. Anyone hoping to discover more about the different aspects of love will like Pulse.
