Three-year-old tops Sale money list

Caspar Fownes relinquished his position as champion trainer, but his win with recent acquisition Flying Supreme took the three-year-old to the top of the race for the HK$1 million 2008 International Sale bonus - with Fownes the only danger. Flying Supreme (Vincent Ho Chak-yiu) has been with Fownes for just three starts but made it two wins on end to take his prize money to HK$2,756,750 and make him the leading earner from the 2008 sale. Now Fownes will saddle up Mark Up on Wednesday at the Valley, where victory would leapfrog him to the lead and take the bonus, but second won't be enough. 'Flying Supreme has done a good job already and I haven't had much time to work with him,' Fownes said. 'I'm hoping that he can put on 20 or 30 pounds during the break. If he can, he could prove to be quite smart next season.'
