The battle for the apprentice jockeys' title has been every bit as close with Keith Yeung Ming-lun gaining a narrow ascendancy on his rivals care of his win on Spicy Shrimp. Yeung edged past Matthew Chadwick, who amassed 28 victories before graduating to the senior ranks in January, with his 29th victory for the season aboard the Peter Ng Bik-kuen-trained galloper. With just eight races remaining at Happy Valley, Ben So Tik-hung (26) and Derek Leung Ka-Chun (25) are still mathematical possibilities of giving Yeung a scare, but the odds are well in the leader's favour as he heads towards the coveted title. Unfortunately for winning trainer Ng, the odds are stacked against him pulling out a treble in the final eight races and reaching the Club's performance benchmark of 13 wins, while Andreas Schutz will also be hoping to pull a rabbit out of the hat and lead in a double at the Valley.
