The Fantastic Water Babes (IIA) (Cantonese)
The completed-and-shelved Jeff Lau Chun-wai  fantastical sports comedy finally emerges from its three-year spell in cold storage.  Gillian Chung Yan-tung  plays a young woman who learns magic and a lot of other things  in order to become a prize-winning swimmer. Also stars Alex Fong Lik-sun.  Not reviewed.

La Comedie Humaine (IIB) (Cantonese)
Bearing no relation whatsoever to the Balzac opus that gives the film its title, Chan Hing-kai and Janet Chun Siu-chun's film thrives on the  chemistry between comedians-du jour Chapman To Man-chat (who plays a killer) and Wong Cho-lam (a nerdy screenwriter). PF
Fish Tank (III)
Set in a grim housing estate in Essex, England, Andrea Arnold's follow-up to Red Road sees a dance-loving teenager (Katie Jarvis) trying to break out of the coarse existence led by her divorced mother (Kierston Wareing) and her bullying peers.  CT 
The Flirting Scholar 2 (IIA) (Cantonese)
More a new take than a sequel to the 1993 farce, with mainland heartthrob Huang Xiaoming taking over Stephen Chow Sing-chi's role as a womanising poet, and Zhang Jingchu taking her first stab in comedy as the scholar's love interest.  CT

Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz  star in a high-octane thriller about a rogue CIA agent 
who abducts an innocuous-looking new acquaintance as he tries to escape from the law. CT

Shrek Forever After (I) (English and Cantonese versions)
