Three hurt as taxis collide

Two taxi drivers and a woman passenger were injured when their vehicles collided in To Kwa Wan at 5am. Police suspect one of the taxis jumped a red light at the junction of To Kwa Wan Road and Mok Cheong Street. The drivers, aged 52 and 59, and the 33-year-old passenger were in stable condition at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Youths arrested over assault

Two teenagers were arrested for attacking a bookshop worker in Shau Kei Wan. Two off-duty police officers saw the victim being assaulted by four youths. They subdued two of the attackers, both aged 17, but the other two fled. The shop worker was in a stable condition in hospital with injuries to his head and hands.

Cargo truck crashes into crane

A 51-year-old truck driver was injured when he crashed into a cargo crane at a Kwai Chung container terminal yesterday. The accident occurred at about 1am, when the driver lost control of his vehicle in the terminal. Firemen were called out to rescue him as he was trapped inside the truck. He was in a serious condition in hospital.

Cab mirror injures pedestrian

Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 70-year-old woman was injured by a taxi while crossing a road in Tsim Sha Tsui. The woman was struck by the cab's wing mirror at the junction of Austin Road and Pine Tree Hill Road around 5am. She was in a stable condition at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Police arrested the driver, 62, and were investigating whether he had jumped a red light.

Worker airlifted after fall

A 47-year-old worker was fighting for his life with head injuries after falling down a slope near Ling Yan Monastery on Lantau Island. He was airlifted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, where he was in critical condition.
