Department reduces surcharges

The maximum fuel surcharges commercial airlines can levy on their passengers have been lowered by the Civil Aviation Department. Short-haul flights on Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and All Nippon Airways will carry a maximum surcharge of HK$98, down from HK$105, while long-haul flights will carry a maximum levy of HK$505, down from HK$513. The surcharge adjustment will affect tickets dated between August 1 and August 31.
