6 months' jail for nude-girl photos

A voyeur who confessed to taking more than 100 nude pictures of three teenage girls he met on a Net forum was sentenced to six months in jail.

Johnson Leung Ka-fai, 36, project manager at a construction company, had earlier pleaded guilty in the District Court to three counts of making child pornography. He took more than 100 photographs of three partly or totally naked schoolgirls aged 13 and 14 in a hotel room between June and October last year.

A psychological report said Leung derived sexual excitement and pleasure from taking pictures of physically developed teenage girls but he denied interest in pre-pubescent teenagers. His likelihood of reoffending was assessed to be low.

Deputy Judge Cheang Kei-hong criticised Leung, a university graduate, for taking advantage of teenage girls who were not wary of strangers. Cheang said making child pornography was more serious than keeping it and a deterrent sentence had to be passed.

The judge reduced the sentence by a third for the guilty plea and recognition of Leung's 12-year St John Ambulance membership.

The court heard Leung met the girls, who wanted to be models, on an online forum. He contacted them through an instant messaging service and asked them to go to a Tsuen Wan hotel where the shooting took place.

Each time, Leung would ask the girls to bring with them costumes such as white dresses or sexy pyjamas or school uniforms. He asked them to remove their underwear and have photos taken in a bubble-filled bath tub. The photos showed the breasts and private parts of the girls.

In September last year, Leung's former girlfriend found the personal information and nude photos of one of the victims on his computer.

She e-mailed a photo to the girls' school to prevent more pupils from falling victim. She also gave his computer to a friend, who handed it to police.

The school launched an investigation and alerted the girl's mother, who reported the case to police.
