Bogus exam candidate sent to jail

A visitor from the mainland who confessed to having used a forged identity card to sit someone else's exams was yesterday jailed for six months. Zhao Chunlin, 18, pleaded guilty to three counts of using a forged identity card and a count of conspiracy to defraud. Zhao had accepted 2,500 yuan (HK$2,870) from a man in Shenzhen and on May 19 completed two exams for enrolment in American universities on his behalf. Zhao was arrested when attempting the third paper.
