'Dog Days' offers up some cool comedy
For those left struggling with the summer heat while friends have escaped abroad, the TakeOut Comedy Club in Central is offering some air-conditioned comic relief at its show The Dog Days of Summer.
Local improvisation troupe the People's Liberation Improv (PLI) will give audience members a chance to let off steam at its August 6 show, when they will be expected to shout out topics for the troupe to poke fun at. Jami Gong, comedian and founder of the club, said: 'We'll try to play around summer stuff, like junk trips, etc. You say it; we play it,' he added, referring to the PLI's motto.
Kay Ross, a member of the PLI, said: 'Not everybody goes away on holiday for summer, so we want to do something to entertain the people who are here, whether they live here or are just tourists passing through.'
Locals are encouraged to take visitors to the show, so the comedians can 'make sure we yell at them to buy stuff at the jewellery stores', Gong said, referring to the recent scandal involving the tour guide whose outburst at mainland tourists on a bus caused controversy locally and on the mainland.
