A senior police constable was jailed for nine months yesterday for possession of six forged bank statements showing a total balance of US$630 million. Lai Ying-wa, 49, also the sole director of Crown Asia Global, was earlier convicted at Kwun Tong Court of possessing a false instrument. He will appeal. Magistrate David Dufton cut three months from what would have been a 12-month jail term, as investigations took 21/2 years and because of Lai's police service.
