Summer calls for lighter scents, which lift your mood, or remind you of favourite holidays

Bobbi Brown Beach Fragrance (HK$460/50ml)

Inhale and you'll feel like you're at the beach. Perfect for sun lovers, it is a breezy scent reminiscent of suntan lotion and Caribbean getaways.

Marina de Bourbon Fleur De Lys Eau de Toilette (HK$308/30ml)

This is at first too pungent - a ghastly blend of all the wrong smells. But when it sinks into the skin, what lingers is sweet, zesty and invigorating.

Gres Cabotine Green Summer Eau de Toilette (HK$196/100ml)

This takes everything in a summer's garden and mixes it to create a spirit-lifting scent. Mandarin, yuzu and pear are there, with lotus and jasmine, and a hint of sweet freesia.

Samba Fresh Woman Eau de Toilette (HK$168/100ml)

As if the packaging is not off-putting enough - yellow and gourd-shaped - the odour is like horribly pungent dishwasher detergent. It earns points for staying power, but sadly doesn't smell any better as time passes.

Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Lavender Eau de Toilette (HK$225/50ml)

The original Arden green tea EDT was refreshingly original. Unfortunately the addition of lavender has made this scent medicinal, and curiously short-lived.
