Gigi's artistic cure for the blues is crafting ceramics

Don't be surprised if you run into Gigi Leung Wing-kei at a ceramics workshop - the singer-actress has been dabbling in the craft for more than two years.

'I make ceramics whenever I feel upset,' Leung, 34, says. 'I forget about all my problems when I concentrate on making ceramics.'

Leung was guest of honour at the opening of a ceramics exhibition on Monday at Harbour City. Co-organised by the Tsim Sha Tsui mall and St James' Settlement Rehabilitation Services, the exhibition features more than 20 ceramic sculptures created by 12 disabled people, all of whom have been members of St James' ceramics workshops since 1999.

Although none of Leung's pieces were included in the exhibition, which runs until August 17, she says her friends and family members have received her works as gifts. But her former French designer boyfriend of four years, who she recently split up with, was not so lucky.

'I didn't give any to my boyfriend because I didn't think my work was good enough,' she says.

Leung still seems hopeful about future relationships, though, saying: 'I wouldn't mind learning ceramics with a boyfriend. It would be nice if we could create something together.'

Nevertheless, she says she's not diving back into the dating pool just yet. 'I'm seeing new friends, but I'm not dating anyone. I just want to concentrate on my career now.'

Perhaps work - and making ceramics - is the best cure.
