Hundreds of people who use a telephone directory assistance service more than 50 times a month may be asked to pay a charge. The Telecommunications Authority yesterday said operators who provided such services could consider charging frequent users, who made up fewer than one in one hundred phone subscribers. The authority also decided that it was no longer compulsory to provide free copies of white pages directories to subscribers.
