Raised in HK and now living in Paris, busy Uffie keeps her fans waiting
with Vivian Chen
We understand why Uffie, born Anna-Catherine Hartley, yelled 'on strike' at her mini concert at Central's Diesel store on Friday night.
The 22-year-old Paris-based electric-pop singer arrived in Hong Kong at 7am, went through a string of interviews in the afternoon before her evening show and had a late-night flight to Tokyo for the Summer Sonic music festival.
Local fans packed into the basement of the Diesel shop didn't seem to mind Uffie's late appearance, almost an hour late because she had a make-up emergency backstage.
Uffie's performance in Hong Kong was to promote her debut album Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans, as well as a capsule collection of casual T-shirts and biker jackets that she collaborated on with Diesel.
The young artist, who worked with Grammy-winning musicians Pharrell Williams and electronic music duo Justice, shared some style tips for chic rocker wannabes.
'I like to pair silk dresses, something very feminine, with something punk like pirate boots and trash leather jacket,' she said. 'I like to mix and match.'
Uffie lived in Hong Kong with her family when she was four years old before moving to Florida and then later to Paris in her early teens.
What does she miss most about our city? dim sum.
