The Civil Aviation Department yesterday approved a reduction in passenger fuel surcharges levied by Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways and Singapore Airlines for tickets issued in September. The new maximum fuel surcharges will be HK$97 each way for short-haul flights and HK$481 each way for long-haul flights, which constitute reductions of between 1 and 5 per cent from the current maximum levels. The surcharges are reviewed regularly.
