The vibe: Hong Kong's latest members' only joint incorporates a lounge, club and terraces in a massive 12,000 sq ft space. On the third floor, Hyde Lounge - with its hardwood floors, leather sofas, and designer lamps - evokes a New York loft feel that is classy but unpretentious.

Downstairs, the Hyde Club, decked out in metal, glass and marble, has more of an urban edge and gets kicking later in the evening. The resident DJ spins a mixture of hip hop, commercial and house - but it's the hi-tech sound and light systems, and wall-sized LED screens, that provide the 'wow' factor.

The drinks: Hyde Special and Liquid Sunshine, fruity concoctions that pack a punch for HK$88, are among the club's signature cocktails. The former mixes pineapple and raspberries with vodka, peach schnapps and cr?me de framboise, while Liquid Sunshine is a heady mix of vodka, triple sec, cr?me de bananas, creme de cassis and Galliano.

Whisky lovers will appreciate the premium selection on offer, including vintage Macallan and Dewar's. Top champagne and wines are also available. Wines by the glass start at HK$75 and beers at HK$63.

The verdict: Hyde looks likely to become one of the hottest new hangouts in town. Its three outdoor terraces, pool tables, snacks menu (including fare such as truffle fries for HK$58), daily happy hour and a set lunch menu in the works could give it an edge over other venues.
