A Brazilian-made aircraft belonging to Tianjin Airlines skidded off the runway during a landing in Nanning , Guangxi , but no injuries were reported.

A state-run Nanning newspaper, Nanguo Zaobao, blamed heavy rain and poor visibility for the Wednesday morning accident, citing an official at Wuyu International Airport. An official investigation is under way.

The incident comes less than a day after another plane of the same model, EJR-190, belonging to Henan Airlines, crashed in Yichun , Heilongjiang .

The Tianjin Airlines jet, carrying 81 passengers from Xian, Shaanxi , was making a landing when its nose slid to the right about two metres from the runway. The carrier demoted several people implicated in the case and took other disciplinary measures, an administrator from parent company Hainan Airlines said.

Some EJR-190 flights operated by Tianjin Airlines were not cancelled, indicating confidence in the safety of the Embraer aircraft.
