Lei Bistro

Nora Tong

Having built a reputation for high-end, sophisticated fare, Lei Garden Restaurant has launched a new venture in Causeway Bay which offers high-quality and healthy food at affordable prices. Designed by Hernan Zanghellini, the mastermind behind the d?cor of seven Lei Garden restaurants, Lei Bistro is characterised by a mix of modern and traditional elements that offer the perfect setting for casual dining.

The latest addition to the Lei Garden family provides an array of dishes featuring northern and southern Chinese cuisine, and famous Lei Garden soups, barbecued favourites and dim sum.

To encourage customers to pursue a balanced diet, Lei Bistro's menu emphasises steamed, braised and stewed dishes rather than deep-fried items. Since the restaurant opened last month, Shanghainese-style steamed pork dumplings (HK$26) and drinks, such as fresh lemon juice (HK$5) and longan and pear drink (HK$14), have become popular among diners.

Lei Bistro's signature dishes include double-boiled Chinese francolin in smoked coconut (HK$58), which is cooked for six and a half hours, crispy roast pork (HK$68), pan-fried cod fish fillet (HK$108) and chilled mango sweetener with grapefruit and sago (HK$24).

To ensure freshness, hygiene and uniformity of portions and taste, Lei Garden has been expanding its kitchen facilities so that Lei Bistro's dishes are semi-processed centrally by experienced chefs.

The restaurant accommodates about 150 people, with a private room seating eight guests. It is open daily from 11am to 11pm.
