Premium champagne brand Veuve Clicquot is giving Hongkongers something new to do with their fancy phones with the launch of the Veuve Clicquot QR Code, a bar code that helps users when they are out wining and dining. When the bar code is scanned by a smart phone (it works best with the iPhone, regional marketing manager Polly Chien says) information is downloaded onto the phone from the company's server.

At a luncheon on Friday, the Veuve Clicquot team showed how one quick swipe calls up details of events, photos and the latest news.

'If you see the QR Code on a wine menu, simply scan the code with your phone, and it can provide suggestions on which champagne goes with what type of food,' Chien said. Sleek silver key chains that double as QR Codes were presented to guests at the luncheon.
