A bogus employment agent who cheated about 100 domestic helpers out of HK$200,000 and then surrendered to police because he felt bad about it was jailed for 18 months yesterday. Chow Hing-tat, 42, pleaded guilty in the District Court to fraud. Between May 1 and November 30 last year a number of Indonesian and Filipino maids approached Honest Maid Employment Agency in Tsim Sha Tsui to find work for themselves and others. They gave Chow HK$3,000 for each application, but he did nothing.
