Hong Kong women, take note: a new sexual revolution is under way. That is, if The New York Times is to be believed. Headlined 'For the A-Cup Crowd, Minimal Assets Are a Plus', the paper claims more American women are becoming proud members of the small-chested crowd. AAA- to A-cup sizes are in, padding is out and silicon is a no-no. Culturally conditioned to seeing their lack of size as being undesirable or even a disability, the women are rebelling and learning to feel good about being 'differently endowed'.

The women are waging a cultural war against their unnamed oppressors, who would presumably include Hollywood producers, fashion magazine editors, captains of the porn industry and heterosexual men in general - all of whom, allegedly, prefer the well-endowed over what Cantonese speakers refer to as 'airplane landing ground' or 'flatland'. Evidence of that? The paper cited a huge surge in websites and online retailers that specialise in smaller bra sizes and the number of new Facebook groups like 'Flat Chested and Proud of It!'

Back in Hong Kong, our tabloid magazines splash covers with close-up shots of well-endowed starlets and pseudomodels as a matter of course. And seeing how Hong Kong women are constantly bombarded with ads for dodgy beauty products that promise to transform their chests in no time, the revolution can't come soon enough!
