Hongkong Post said the souvenirs were released to pay tribute to Kao's invention of fibre optics.

Part of the proceeds will go to the Charles K. Kao Foundation for Alzheimer's Disease, a charity that raises awareness about senile dementia and promotes better support for relatives and carers of patients.

The souvenirs will be shown today at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office.
