The government received 494 requests for information under the Code on Access to Information in the second quarter of the year, a spokesman for the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau said. The number of requests received since the code's introduction in March 1995 up to the end of June was 29,279. Of these, 1,587 were subsequently withdrawn, 1,165 covered cases in which the bureau or departments concerned did not hold the information sought and 53 requests were still being processed. The Ombudsman received seven complaints relating to requests for information in the second quarter of the year.
