Love it or leave it, retro is in. Savvy fashionistas worldwide have been channelling the '50s look, from Katy Perry to Rihanna to Lady Gaga.

A troupe of singer-dancers, dressed in colourful '50s costumes and big hair - including pink braids and Elvis pompadours - will take the stage at the Academy for Performing Arts next month. They will be performing the long-running musical Grease, which is making its Hong Kong debut on October 7.

The show features 142 costume changes, 16 leather jackets and 59 wigs, and goes through 10 jumbo cans of hairspray and eight pots of gel a week.

The story follows a group of working-class teens through their wild high school years - their trials with love and betrayal, rebellion and violence, and even pregnancy.

The musical's successful film adaptation starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, while Richard Gere once played the male lead, Danny Zuko, in the '70s stage show.

We have two pairs of tickets for the premiere performance on October 9 to give away to CitySeen readers. They are worth HK$795 each.

Tell us in up to 50 words who sported the best glossy, greasy hairstyle in history and why. Send to cityseen@scmp.com, with your name, address and contact number - and 'Grease' in the subject line - by 6pm on Monday.
