Have a roaring time

Now that most of you have settled back into school, it's time to get involved with the Young Post Junior Reporters' Club. If you have a passion for reporting, shooting videos or blogging, the Reporters' Club is for you.

If you join, you could meet celebrities and professional journalists, participate in workshops, and write on a regular basis and have your stories published.

How to join

If you're 12 to 16, you are a cub, and if you're 16 to 20, you are a tiger. To register, send an e-mail to [email protected] with your full name, date of birth, age, school, phone number and address. Also write 200 words, explaining why you want to join the club and attach a picture portrait of yourself (like the ones used in passports).

What's new

Starting this term, junior reporters will be able to meet to discuss their ideas and stories with the YP team at special editorial conferences.

These regular editorial meetings will be open to six to eight junior reporters each time. They will be held at the South China Morning Post office in Causeway Bay, usually on a Tuesday, from 6pm to 6.45pm.

To check when the next editorial meeting is, visit yp.scmp.com Over to You Reporters' Club Assignments & Workshops Next Editorial Meeting.

During the meeting, you will need to pitch story ideas. If we pick your idea, you will then need to organise interviews and photos for your story. The YP team will give you a deadline according to your school work. The story will be published on the Junior Reporters' page in Young Post, in the Reporters' Club section on yp.scmp.com, or on the YP blog.

If you're not able to come to the editorial meeting, you can still submit story ideas by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. To keep track of the Reporters' Club assignments, visit the Assignments and Workshops page (under Reporters' Club Menu: 'Assignments and Workshops').

What can you write about?

Beauty, cinema, politics, games, economics, lifestyle, experiences ... you can suggest anything you want. Check on our website and previous Young Post issues to see if we have already covered your idea.

Workshops

The Junior Reporters' Club workshops are usually organised during public holidays and school breaks. Once you've joined the club, we will add you to our mailing list and you will receive an e-mail with updates. You can also visit the Assignments and Workshops page to check what's next and sign up.
