Martial arts star Donnie Yen Ji-dan's skills were pushed to the limit in the upcoming film Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen.
'The director [Andrew Lau Wai-keung] was very demanding. I didn't just have to fight a lot, I had to play the piano and even show my butt,' Yen (right) said at the film premiere in Beijing this week. Legend of the Fist was among the opening films at the Venice Film Festival this month.
Yen co-stars with Shu Qi, Anthony Wong Chau-sang, Huang Bo and Yasuaki Kurata.
Yen plays legendary Chen Zhen who ventures out as a masked warrior to overthrow the Japanese military and rescue people.
In one of the scenes where Chen is tortured by the Japanese army, Yen has a brief moment of rear nudity on the big screen.
'When I was on the set, the director told me to wear tiny briefs but I thought it wouldn't look realistic. So I told him that maybe I'd just go naked. Of course, using a shot from the back.'
