This week we test: toner

Use toner after cleansing and before moisturising. It helps remove residual dirt and tightens pores.

L'Oreal Hydrafresh Anti-Shine Purifying & Mattifying Icy Toner (HK$89/200ml)

A cooling toner which visibly reduces pore size over time and leaves skin soft and supple. Not ideal for sensitive skin.

Origins Zero Oil Pore Purifying Toner with Saw Palmetto and Mint (HK$170/150ml)

This has a spearmint component which leaves skin feeling refreshed and soothed. It also effectively removes excess oil, leaving a clean matte finish.

Vichy Normaderm Astringent Toner (HK$150/200ml)

It aims to tighten pores and minimise facial oil, and it does this while leaving skin cool and soft. It has a pleasant fresh scent, but the alcohol stings. Sensitive skin types need to think twice.

L'Occitane Red Rice Purifying Toner (HK$160/200ml)

Smells delicious and leaves skin feeling cool, refreshed and soft after application. Doesn't leave face completely shine-free but shine definitely lessens with regular use.

Garnier Skin Natural Pure Pore Tightening Astringent with Mineral Zinc (HK$45/150ml)

If you have an annoyingly oily skin and you're on a budget, this is for you. It really does tighten your pores and refresh your skin without smelling of alcohol. But it is not for sensitive and dry skins, and you should avoid the eye area.
