The aptly named Bet On Me was the subject of a late betting move and duly won the Buffalo Hill Handicap (1,200m) for trainer Ricky Yiu Poon-fai and jockey Alex Lai Hoi-wing. In an impressive display, Lai drove the four-year-old to a 1?lengths win over favourite Best Win, with a short head to Telecom Top Star in third. 'I've always liked this horse, and it was love at first sight when I bought him at the yearling sales in Australia,' Yiu said. 'He is a upcoming horse and I think he will get more ground as he gets into the season. The second place-getter also looks a promising horse, so perhaps this will be a strong form race. Yiu's star sprinter Sacred Kingdom is gearing up for a return to the races in the Group Three Sha Tin Sprint Trophy (1,000m) on October 1 after making a full recovery from the severe bout of colic, which almost claimed his life earlier this year.
