Georgina Goodman

Who started it? London-based shoe designer Georgina Goodman started her fashion career working for magazines such as i-D and Elle. In the late 1990s, she enrolled in a bachelor's degree in shoe design at Cordwainers College in London and followed it up with a master's at the Royal College of Art in 2001. In 2002, she opened her first store, in Mayfair, offering couture shoes under her eponymous label. In 2003, she added ready-to-wear to her offerings and has since expanded into bags and other accessories. She has been nominated twice as accessory designer of the year by the British Fashion Council. At present, she is collaborating with brands such as Alexander McQueen, Cascadei and Pringle of Scotland on their runway shoe collections. Fans of the brand include Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Moss, Kylie Minogue and Sienna Miller.

Why we love it: the styles are subtly sexy and beautifully detailed - perfect for confident women. Goodman is also known for her strong silhouettes and hand-stitched detailing and graphic elements, giving her ready-to-wear pieces a luxe, couture vibe. The autumn/winter collection features soft leathers decorated with studs or Swarovski crystals. Colours include navy, antique bronze, metallic grey and purple, and fabrics such as mink, stingray and eel. The sole on every pair is marked with 'made with love' and has hand-painted stripes.

What we'd pick: the sculptural Newton sandals featuring a dramatic swirl and chain detailing (above left; HK$6,890) and the Dawson peep-toe pumps with a curved platform (top; HK$5,690).
