Social Enterprise Challenge a rare chance for students and fresh graduates to shine

Creative juices will be flowing with conscience at this year's Social Enterprise Challenge. The annual competition for college students and fresh graduates is open for entries until October 18.

Mingles Tsoi Ming-to (right), who founded the competition in 2007, said college students, unlike their shrewd and square long-time businessmen counterparts, tend to surprise him with creative social enterprise ideas.

'They are less experienced but also have no restraint, so they can always think out of the box,' Tsoi said.

Some of the previous judges also benefited from the participants' brilliant proposals, according to Tsoi.

Having been promoting social enterprises in Hong Kong for almost five years, Tsoi reckoned the business concept has been slowly and steadily picking up.

'People start to know more about the concept and they are curious to find out more about it. I think it's a good sign.'

For the competition, two winning teams will be awarded up to HK$48,000 each as well as apprentice opportunities under NGO executives. To register and for more information, check out sechallenge.hk
