Suicide youth attacked ex-girlfriend
A 17-year-old girl suffered severe head injuries when bludgeoned with a hammer by her jealous ex-boyfriend who later jumped to his death.
The girl suffered a fractured skull after being hit on the head at least twice and was in serious condition last night in Princess Margaret Hospital, Kwai Chung.
Police said the attacker, 17, was angry because the girl had broken up with him and started a relationship with a 19-year-old fellow student at the Institute of Vocational Education.
Shortly after 11am yesterday he visited the girl at her 24th-floor flat in Hang Chun House, Cheung Hang Estate, Tsing Yi, while her boyfriend was there and asked her to come out for a chat on the staircase.
They argued and he hit her with the hammer before climbing over the staircase railings and jumping. He landed on a first-floor balcony and paramedics declared him dead at the scene. 'The girl was struck on the head with the hammer at least twice and suffered a skull fracture,' a police officer said.
Officers found the 33cm hammer on the staircase. 'The hammer belonged to the attacker. It is possible that he had brought it with him planning an attack,' an officer said.
It was the second tragedy in two weeks involving a love triangle.
On September 21, a female employee at a McDonald's restaurant suffered critical injuries when she was attacked by her former boyfriend with a knife at On Tin Estate in Kwun Tong. Her new boyfriend tried to stop the attack but was stabbed in the left arm. The attacker later jumped to his death on Shun Tin Estate in the same district.
