A man was jailed for 20 months for breaking into his own house and stealing property worth more than HK$250,000 from his family to settle a debt. Lui Wai-lok, 29, pleaded guilty in the District Court to burglary for breaking into the village house in Tuen Mun on July 13. He stole HK$20,000 in cash his mother had stored in the house and a number of jewellery and electronic devices. The court heard that he needed to settle a triad loan given to save his business.
