Entrapment ready for more success

Entrapment, the unbeaten Champion Griffin of last season and the first horse to chalk up seven victories in a term, was back at the barrier trials yesterday and regular jockey Douglas Whyte didn't move a muscle as he coasted easily down the Sha Tin straight.

It was fitting that the John Size-trained runner drew barrier one in the first heat because that is the only number you can associate with this rising star, who almost has enough ones next to his name to fence in a cricket oval.

Entrapment slotted in for early cover in his 1,000m heat and was nicely held together down the centre of the course as he cruised through to finish fifth to Touch Go, who stopped the clock in 58.61 seconds.

The heights Entrapment can reach this preparation are eagerly anticipated, because the sky is the limit for this promising horse, who h is in the hands of a champion trainer and jockey.

Off his lofty mark of 115, there are seemingly few options but to track directly towards clashes with the best in Hong Kong, although whether that is over the sprint distance or over a mile remains to be seen.

Heat two threw up a different proposition in the shape of the lightly raced Dennis Yip Chor-hong-trained Fat Choy Oohlala - a narrow winner late last season who looks to have returned in great form.

Fat Choy Oohlala quickened nicely to finish a close third behind Pizzazz and Happy Prestige (who are both off similar ratings around the 80 mark) in a time of 60.02 for the 1,000m straight.
